A Chinese passenger was caught looting the luggage of another passenger during a Monday flight from China to Ho Chi Minh City.

According to an airline statement about Vietnam Airlines flight 594 from China’s Guangzhou City to Ho Chi Minh City, Liu Jun Sing stole 1,000 Chinese yuan (US$162) from the suitcase of Yohoi Uno, a Japanese passenger on the same flight.

A Chinese passenger, whose name was reported only as Lin Sheng F. saw Sing rummage through Uno's suitcase and secretly reported it to the cabin crew.

A stewardess caught Sing red-handed and generated a written report about the case.

At 9 p.m. the same day -- roughly four hours after the plane had landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport -- Liu Jun Sing was sent to the airport’s police station to be expelled from the country.

This was the 14th such theft recorded on a Vietnam Airlines flight since the beginning of the year, a representative of the Airlines said.
