The Ministry of Public Security's investigators have put two more executives of VN Pharma under investigation for their involvement in the illegal import of cancer medicine busted last year.
Deputy CEO Ngo Anh Quoc, 31, and chief accountant Le Thi Vu Phuong, 33, are now being investigated on charges of "smuggling," a source told Thanh Nien on Monday.
Phuong was reportedly taken into custody while Quoc was not.
Previously investigators arrested four people, including CEO Nguyen Minh Hung and his deputy Nguyen Tri Nhat, on similar charges.
Information from investigators showed that the Ho Chi Minh City-based company imported 9,300 boxes of cancer drug H-Capita from Canada under a license granted by the Ministry of Health early last year.
The consignment was estimated US$750,000.
However, local authorities later found that documents certifying the drug's origin were fake.
Investigation continues.
