A golf course in the northern province of Vinh Phuc has banned the director of a state-owned company for a year after the man allegedly attacked a caddy in brutal fashion.
Nguyen Duc Son, chairman and general director of Hanoi Housing Management and Development Company, was banned after he struck a caddy in the head with his club in an angry rage at the Tam Dao golf course on September 15.
Son allegedly cracked a male caddy named Cong on the skull with his club, knocking him out cold. Cong was caddying for another man in Son's group.
The golf course said in a release on its website that Cong was rushed to hospital while he was unconscious.
He has since recovered, according to the golf company.
According to the release, Son will be permanently banned from entering the golf course if he violates any other regulations in the future.
Son told Thanh Nien Monday that he did not intentionally attack Cong; he just wanted to warn Cong with a gentle tap for giving him an unnecessary reminder. Son had another caddy at his service.
He said Cong passed out because he was shocked both by the blow and hot weather.
Son said he had covered all medical fees for the caddy.
