Ho Chi Minh City authorities expelled six Chinese nationals on Thursday for illegally working as medical practitioners in Vietnam.

Xiao Yuan Zhong, Wang Ya Fang, Yang Jun,  Zhang Gai Xiang, Lu Guo Xian và Nie Pin were also fined VND15 million (US$717), according to the city Department of Health.

They were also banned from entering Vietnam for five years.

Two other Chinese nationals were fined without being deported.

Li Hang Hai, who possessed both a work permit and medical practitioner's certificate, was fined VND7 million for violating medical regulations. Zuo Guang Shen, who had a work permit but not a medical practitioner's certificate, was fined VND12.5 million.

The eight Chinese nationals had been found working illegally at the Hiep Hoa Clinic on Truong Son Street in HCMC's Tan Binh District on May 8.

Health inspectors said these people hired a Vietnamese to register the clinic but that it was actually Chinese owned and operated.

Earlier on May 2, health inspectors checked the clinic and four Chinese men took off their doctor's smocks and fled.
