The container trucks belonging to the Hiep Phat Petroleum Company that were seized on March 18
Ho Chi Minh City police said Monday they are investigating a private company for allegedly mixing water with fuel oil after three of its container trucks carrying fuel oil were seized last month.
On March 18, police in Nha Be District stopped four container trucks traveling on Huynh Tan Phat Street for a routine check.
As the drivers of the trucks failed to produce papers, the trucks were seized and brought to a police station.
The drivers told police the trucks belonged to Hiep Phat Petroleum One-Member Limited Company. Each truck was transporting 16,000 liters of fuel oil to companies at the My Phuoc 1 and My Phuoc 3 Industrial Zones in Binh Duong Province near HCMC.
The police took samples of fuel oil from the trucks for testing.
Tests showed samples from three trucks contained 21.2-26.2 percent water, which is 26 times higher than the allowed content.
The police then summoned the drivers of the trucks for questioning but none of them showed up.
