Two buffalos fight in an annual festival in the northern city of Hai Phong on Monday before one of them rampaged through a crowd, causing injuries to four people
A famous annual buffalo fighting festival in the northern city of Hai Phong ended in mayhem this week after an animal rampaged through the watching crowd, leaving four people injured.
Tuoi Tre newspaper reported that the buffalo ran into the crowd after losing the Do Son Festival final.
One of its horns speared into the head of Pham Minh Tan, 79, while three others were injured as a massive crowd stampeded to escape from the animal, it said.
Last year too a buffalo plowed into the crowd, leaving five injured.
The buffalo fights are said to represent the fighting spirit of the Do Son District people, and attract thousands of people. The festival also features a culinary event, a fireworks display, and dragon boat racing.
More than 30,000 people were reported to have attended this year.
