A four-year-old boy was crushed to death when his father closed the remote-controlled door of a residence in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday, according to a report on VnExpress Sunday.
Initial information revealed that Vu Xuan Vuong, 30, closed the door in Thu Duc District to prevent his son, Vu Xuan Ngoc Anh, from following him as he went to clean in front of the house.
However, when he was about to leave, Vuong heard the boy scream. He then looked back to find Anh's head being pressed by the door, the newswire reported.
Locals helped Vuong release the child and brought him to Thu Duc General Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries soon afterward.
Vuong said he picked up Anh, his eldest child, from school and brought him to his place of work a relative's house-- where the tragedy took place.
Last October, a four-year-old boy in the northern province of Lao Cai was also killed by a remote-controlled garage door when his father shut it to take his older brother school.
