The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) is investigating nine incidents that "severely" threatened flight safety last year, Vietnam News Agency reported Thursday.
They were among 224 flight safety-related cases in 2012, the report quoted the CAAV as saying, adding it represented a decrease of more than 15 percent from 2011.
More than half of the incidents involved technical problems, and the rest were caused by either "external" factors or human errors.
Fake bomb threats and other security-related issues also decreased.
The CAAV said it would improve oversight and system security as well as infrastructure and training.
