Police in Ha Tinh Province in central Vietnam have arrested four men who were caught trying to send 58 locals to work in China illegally.
Nguyen Tien Tung is 45 while Le Van Giang, Nguyen Xuan Bac and Hoang Trong Linh are all in their 20s.
Police said the suspects were driving a bus carrying the job seekers on their way to China on Monday evening when police stopped them.
They said they used to work in China and knew some people that would hire these Vietnamese workers.
They charged the job seekers VND6-8 million (US$280-380) a person for transport and brokerage.
Police seized VND121 million ($5,700) and nearly 44,000 yuan ($7,000) on the bus.
They are investigating further.
Labor exporters in Vietnam have to gain special licenses from the government.
Illegal exporters can be punished by between two to seven years in jail according to Vietnam’s Penal Code.
