Police in the southern province of Binh Duong on Wednesday busted an all-women gambling ring which they said had been secretly run since early this month.
Police caught Nguyen Thi Thu Hong, 52, the alleged ring leader, and 15 other women playing cards at a house near Chau Thoi Mountain in Di An Town, news website VnExpress reported.
More than VND100 million (US$4,500) was seized, according to police.
Hong, from Ho Chi Minh City, admitted that she had operated the ring since the week before the Lunar New Year, which started on February 8.
Police said all of the gamblers are from wealthy families in Binh Duong and nearby provinces, betting a large amount of money each game.
Further investigations are ongoing.
