Vietnam Airlines plane damaged in truck clash

A Vietnam Airlines aircraft was hit by a tractor as it was about to taxi to the runway for takeoff at the Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City Friday morning, local news website VnExpress reported.

 

The vehicle, belonging to the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Ground Services Company, damaged the plane and delayed the flight to Beijing by two hours.

 

All the passengers were transferred to another plane.

 

The state-owned carrier's spokesperson Le Hoang Dung was quoted by VnExpress as saying they had censured the tractor's driver and tightened safety measures at the airport.

 

Two planes of Vietnam Airlines were damaged by enounters with oil trucks at the airport last year.

 

More details of the accident were not available as of press time.
