A Vietnam Airlines passenger was found dead in his seat when a flight from Hanoi landed in Ho Chi Minh City Friday. The time and cause of death have yet to be determined.
Le Van Hai, 52, was found hunched over in his economy seat on flight VN219 after other travelers had left the aircraft. Flight attendants said he had already stopped breathing by the time they found him.
Doctors confirmed the man was dead on the spot. Hai’s body was then taken to An Binh Hospital for forensic tests. His family has asked to take him home for a funeral.
Officials at Vietnam Airlines, the country’s largest carrier, said the man was deputy head of a transport company, without specifying the firm’s name, local newswire Vnexpress said Saturday.
The airline said Hai’s flight had arrived on time and had experienced no bad weather conditions.
The aircraft has been cleaned and Hai’s food and drink are being tested, said the firm.
