A Vietnam Airlines aircraft overshot a wet runway while landing at Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat Airport on Friday, reportedly due to a flat tire.

The state carrier said in a report that the Airbus 321-231 with 136 passengers and eight crew members, arriving from China's Guangzhou Province, came to a stop some 50 meters past the runway.

VnExpress reported Monday the mishap occurred during a rainstorm when a tire burst during braking.

All the passengers were safe and it took Vietnam Airlines technicians more than an hour to replace the tire before sending it for further checks.

The airplane, manufactured and used since February 2007, was serviced last on April 27, the carrier said.

Related agencies are investigating the case.
