A woman in Ho Chi Minh City, with the help of her sister, has captured an alleged con man who started an online romance with her and then stole all of her belongings the very first time they met.
The 31-year old woman said she met Nguyen Tan Linh, 37, online on a chat room a few months ago.
After falling in love with him, she agreed to meet him in person in early May.
They spent some time together around the city on her motorbike.
When the couple stopped at a gas station for a refill, he waited for her to get off the vehicle and suddenly drove away, carrying her jewelry and a mobile phone kept under the seat.
Her belongings were valued at VND69 million (US$3,400) in total.
The woman then devised up a plan to catch him. She asked her younger sister to join the chat room and start dating Linh.
When Linh came to meet the sister on Tuesday, the two women captured and escorted him to a police station, where he was immediately arrested.
