US vets arrive in Vietnam for two-week visit

A delegation from the United States' organization Veterans for Peace (VFP) arrived in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi Thursday for a visit that will end May 2.

Chairman of the Vietnam-USA Society Nguyen Tam Chien received the delegation of veterans at the headquarters of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) in Hanoi, saying Vietnam always welcomes US veterans to visit the country and he hoped that VFP will have many activities to help Vietnam overcome the consequences of the war, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported on Friday.

After Hanoi, the delegation of veterans will visit Da Nang City, Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Tri Provinces take in tourist sights and revisit the old battlefields of the Vietnam War, as well as meet Agent Orange/Dioxin victims and Vietnamese veterans of the war.
