Ten new classrooms were officially put into use on Thursday at Hai Hung Primary School in Nam Dinh Province as part of a $233,000 school project funded by local authorities and the Boeing Company.
Vietnam Veterans of American Foundation (VVAF) managed the project in Hai Hung Commune.
"This year marks the 15th anniversary of a new relationship between Vietnam and the US. An improved school for young people is a tribute to our hopes and beliefs in a strong future," Ginny Foote of VVAF said in a statement released prior to the event.
The new classrooms will benefit about 800 children and teachers. Hai Hung Primary School was established before 1954 and most classrooms are now in poor conditions due to harsh typhoons in recent years.
