Police in the Central Highlands Tuesday found a food factory discharging untreated wastewater directly into a local river.
The frozen fruit and vegetable processing factory in Lam Dong Province was found discharging wastewater into the Da Nhim River through a underground pipe.
Authorities estimate the factory produced around 200 cubic meters of effluents a day.
The plant had installed a waste treatment facility with the capacity of 300 cubic meters a day but had not bothered to use it.
Lam Dong authorities have asked the factory to stop the discharge and collected waste samples for analysis.
