Vietnamese police said Friday they busted a human trafficking gang that sent Vietnamese women to Singapore and forced them into prostitution.
Last week, the police of the Ministry of Public Security arrested Tran Van Tam, 37, of Tay Ninh Province and Nguyen Loan Thach, 27, of Long An Province at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City when they were about to bring six women to Singapore.
The two pimps confessed to the police they and other gang members had successfully sent 50 women to Singapore.
The duo said they had come to rural areas in the Mekong Delta to approach young women, court them and ask them to go abroad.
The police said the duo are being investigated for "mediating prostitution."
Based on their testimonies, the police are searching for other gang members in Singapore.
