Police in Dak Nong Province in the Central Highlands arrested two men on Monday who are accused of raping and killing a woman after they disagreed over the price she charged them for sex.
Luu Van Thang, 21, and Le Van Dang, 18, met the 34-year-old sex worker while drinking at a restaurant in Dak Mil District at about 11 p.m. Sunday night, police said.
They then accompanied the woman to her room so they could pay her for sex.
But after the men tried to bargain the price down from VND500,000 each to VND200,000, the woman asked them to leave, according to a police report.
When the men refused, the woman held a knife against her throat and threatened to kill herself if they came near, the report said.
But instead of leaving, Dang snatched the knife from the woman and pushed her onto the bed, while Thang smothered her with a pillow until she passed out. Thang then allegedly raped her and when she began moving, he pressed his knee against her throat until she died.
Before leaving the room, the men stole two gold necklaces off the woman’s body, some money and a cell phone, according to the police report.
