Authorities in Khanh Hoa Province have announced they will place "sovereignty" stones and plant trees from the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago at a mainland park to increase people's awareness of national sovereignty.
The ceremony to place the stones and plant trees is slated to take place on April 29 at the Bach Dang Park in Nha Trang Town to commemorate 35th anniversary of Truong Sa Liberation Day (April 29) and 35th anniversary of the National Liberation Day (April 30).
Twenty-one stones weighing between 50-70 kilograms each will be carved with the names of Truong Sa islands and their longitudes and latitudes while 21 Malabar almond trees, among the strongest on the islands, will be planted in the park, provincial officials said.
All the stones and trees were gifts from the Truong Sa Naval Force and residents to their provincial brethren, they said.
Truong Sa is a district in Khanh Hoa Province.
