Truck wreck kills 2, injures 1 in central Vietnam

A driver was killed along with his companion while another was seriously injured when his truck lost control, causing a chain of collisions in the central city of Da Nang on December 22.

The accident occurred at around 2 p.m. in Da Nang City's Lien Chieu District. The speeding truck's brakes reportedly failed and rammed into the back of another truck running on the same direction after exiting the Hai Van Tunnel.

It also hit a barrier of a charging station nearby before crashed into a house and also a parking lot, owned by Nguyen Minh, 42, a local.

The vehicle, badly distorted, then turned turtle with two front-wheels thrown away. It crashed into more than 50 motorbikes at Minh's house but no one more was hurt.

Driver Tran Ngoc Lam and another man identified only as Minh from the central province of Binh Dinh died on the spot.

Driver's assistant Bui Ngoc Ba, 33, who was also from Binh Dinh Province and at that time in the vehicle's cabin with the two others who died, was rushed to the hospital.
