Two women died and two others were injured after a truck crashed into people waiting at a ferry landing in the northern Vietnamese province of Bac Ninh on Saturday, news web site Dan Tri reported.
On Saturday afternoon, the truck driven by Dinh Van Binh, 37, was about to stop at Dong Xuyen Ferry in Yen Phong District when its brake failed.
Binh turned the truck to the right to avoid plunging into the water. The truck crashed into four women who were standing next to their bicycles, waiting for the ferry.
Ngo Thi Dam, 35, and Giap Thi Kim Hop, 24, and the four bicycles fell into the river. Dam and Hop drowned, while the other two women, whose identities have not been released, were injured.
Binh, the truck driver, has been detained for further investigations.
Local police said the truck was carrying around seven tons of mash while its loading capacity was just three tons.
