Police of Ha Tinh Province have detained a truck driver for allegedly ramming three police cars on Jan. 2 while trying to get away after he was asked to pull over for speeding.
Do Quoc Huy, 23, was also alleged of operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.
A team of traffic police stationed on a section of National Highway 1 through Hong Linh Town found Huy speeding at 1.30 p.m. Friday and ordered him to stop.
Huy, however, drove straight into the officers, who managed to escape the crash.
He sped on the flee and in the process rammed into two other police vehicles which were stationed a few kilometers away from each other along National Highway 1 to stop him.
No officers were injured in the crashes.
After a high speed chase, Huy’s truck suddenly veered off into thick bush by the road and stopped.
Major Nguyen An Ninh of Ha Tinh Province said Huy apparently was under the influence when officers tried to get him out of his truck.
He was taken to a nearby hospital as he sustained minor chest injuries. After being discharged from hospital, he was taken into a police station.
