A southbound train ran straight into a tractor in the central province of Binh Thuan Monday, completely destroying the farming vehicle and sending its driver to hospital.
The tractor, which was pulling a trailer full of cassava roots, was standing across the railway while the accident occurred at 9:45 a.m.
It is not immediately clear if the vehicle was parked there or it was trying to cross the rail line.
The train engine was severely damaged, authorities said.
It took around two and a half hours for authorities to clear the scene of the accident and mobilize another train engine to replace the damaged one.
The delayed train continued its journey at 12:15.

Cassava roots are seen at the accident scene.

The agricultural tractor is heavily damaged.

Authorities and locals check the damaged train engine.
