Train derails in central Vietnam, hundreds stranded

Six trains were delayed by as many as nine hours on Sunday, stranding hundreds of passengers in the central province of Khanh Hoa after a train derailed on its way from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City.

 

The incident happened when the SE5 train went off the tranks at about 12 a.m. in the central province of Phu Yen.

 

The section ws under repair when the accident happened, said Huynh Duc Duong, station head of the Nha Trang Railway Station. No injuries or casualties were reported.

 

It wasn't fixed until 6 p.m., he said, adding that the SE5 was delayed by more than nine hours while five others had to suffer delays of between one and seven hours.
