A police officer in the central province of Ha Tinh was hit by a motorbike and collapsed after he tried to stop the speeding vehicle on Saturday.
Sub-lieutenant Nguyen Viet Tuan spotted the bike when he was at a checkpoint on Ha Huy Tap Street around noon on Saturday.
He walked out and signaled the driver to stop.
Hoang Van Tai, 31, who was riding the bike with Nguyen Si Nam, 37, on the back seat, ignored the request and crashed the bike into Tuan.
Tuan passed out immediately. He sustained severe injuries.
The bike collapsed. Tai and Nam fell on the ground and also had minor injuries.
Nearby residents rushed the three men to hospital.
