Thirty three people were killed and 43 others were injured in traffic accidents in the last two days as Vietnam celebrated Reunification Day and Labor Day.
It represented a decrease of 39.3 percent in fatalities and 33 percent in injuries from last year, the National Traffic Safety Committee reported Sunday.
Most of the reported 55 accidents were road crashes, with only two involving trains –which left two dead and one wounded -- and none involving boats, it said.
The long weekend continues for two more days since this year the holidays fell on Saturday and Sunday, and Vietnam has a practice of having the next weekday off in such cases.
