A public kindergarten in Vietnam's northern province of Thai Binh has admitted responsibility for the death of a four-year-old boy who was crushed by a falling wooden cupboard Monday.
Quan Thi Thanh Nga, the rector of Phuc Thanh Commune Kindergarten in Vu Thu District, said Lai Hai Tan was killed when the cupboard containing the children's toys suddenly toppled over.
The class teacher, Nguyen Thi Oanh, was cleaning dishes in the toilet at the time, she said.
Lai Van Thu, the boy's father, said there should not have been a wooden cupboard in the children's play area.
"And why weren't there any strings or hooks to prevent it from falling?" the grieving parent lamented.
