A private company in Dak Nong Province has allegedly dug out remains from a local graveyard before offering to pay the families money if they agreed to move the tombs away by themselves.
The tombs have been there for many years, located at a rock mine area in the Central Highlands province, local news website VietNamNet said Monday.
Local residents on Friday discovered more than ten tombs of their relatives had been dug up.
Later the same day, they received phone calls from officials of Quoc Thanh Production, Commerce and Service Company.
The company said it would give the families VND2 million (US$103) each if they agree to move the tombs to another place by themselves, the residents said.
Authorities are investigating the case.
