Police in the northern province of Thai Binh are searching for a group of people who slashed and injured two officers after they stormed a police station on Wednesday, a local official told Thanh Nien.
Major Nguyen Van Tam, chief of Dong Hung District's police division, said they currently have one suspect in custody.
On Wednesday night a team of four police officers in Dong Xuan Commune, led by Vu Van Truong, caught a group of young people riding motorbikes, honking and not wearing helmets, during their patrol.
The officers warned the people to follow traffic rules, but the latter refused, swore and threw stones.
Police then arrested one of the youth and brought him to the station for questioning.
Around 10 minutes later about ten people stormed the station with swords and knives, slashing at people and destroying things inside.
Truong and another officer, Vu Van Tuan, were slashed many times. They were rushed to the local hospital after the group left.
Speaking to Thanh Nien, Truong said only four officers, including him, were present at the site.
"We thought that they would leave after rescuing their accomplice, but unexpectedly, they chased and attacked us," Truong said.
The case is being investigated further.
