Three men suspected to be involved in the shooting a woman to death in Hanoi last month have been arrested in the northern province of Quang Ninh, VnExpress quoted a local official as saying Friday.
According to Nguyen Thanh Hung, chief of the criminal investigation office (PC52) under Hanoi's police division, Dong Cao Cuong, 28, Luu Quang Duc, 24, and Nguyen Manh Cuong, 22, were arrested Thursday night when they were about to leave for China.
They are now being escorted to Hanoi, Hung said, adding that over 20 police officers had taken part in the operation.
On Wednesday, Hanoi police had issued an arrest warrant for the trio who are suspected to have shot 20-year-old Nguyen Thi Lien on April 28 night when she was in a taxi in Dong Da District.
Shot in the head, Lien died on her way to a local hospital, while the taxi driver, whose identity wasn't revealed, was also injured, according to VnExpress.
Initial information is that Lien owed the trio money.
Hanoi police had previously taken Nguyen Ngoc Anh, 20, into custody on suspicion of failing to "denounce criminals."
The case is still under investigation, police said.
