Three members of a farmer family drowned in a shrimp pond in the central province of Ha Tinh on Tuesday, online newspaper VnExpress reported.
Nguyen Thi Chinh, 15, Nguyen Thi Thuy, 12, and Nguyen Tien Phi, 10, of Ky Anh District are sisters and brother, respectively. At around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, they returned home from school and went to a shrimp pond near their house to catch shrimp and fish.
After their mother Pham Thi Le got home from the fields, she went out to find her children.
She found the three's, a bag of shrimp and two baskets on the banks of the pond.
She called for help and neighbors swam into the pond where they found the dead bodies of the three children.
Le said she and her husband had five children. The three usually went out to catch fish and shrimp to save money for their poor parents.
