Inspectors in Ho Chi Minh City have arrested three men supplying a major amount of addictive drugs in the city, seizing hundreds of compressed heroin tablets at their places, Dan Tri reported Friday.

The police on Thursday caught Mai The Duong, 35, in Phu Nhuan District and Nguyen Thanh Tung, 30, in District 3.

Tung was caught while selling the drug to some people in Tan Binh District. Nearly two grams of synthetic heroin was found on his body and more than 50 grams on his motorbike.

Searches at his house later also revealed more than 22 grams of heroin hidden in the refrigerator.

Tung's statements led the police to Duong, his direct supplier. Duong was caught with 138 grams of heroin in his motorbike.

Earlier on Wednesday, Tran Thanh Toan, 29, was arrested while looking for customers in Tan Binh District. A search at his place found more than 300 tablets of ecstasy, as all containing MDMA (3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine), tests confirmed later.

Toan had been arrested previously during a drug inspection by the city police and finished his jail term in February last year.

He said he bought the ecstasy from a man only identified as Map. They usually did the exchange on Nguyen Van Cu Street, District 5.

Police have detained the three men for further investigation.
