Vietnamese police on Wednesday arrested three alleged members of a drug smuggling ring that shipped marijuana through the mail from Canada to Vietnam.
Previously, officers of a post office in Hanoi's Thanh Xuan District discovered more than 450 grams of dried cannabis and two mobile phones in a package sent from Canada.
The package was intended to be sent to Truong Thi Nga, a 35-year-old employee of a private company in Hanoi.
The police arrested Nga and two other suspects while they were receiving the package at the post office.
Investigations are still under way.
Last February, a man in the northern province of Quang Ninh was arrested while receiving a parcel of marijuana sent from Canada at a local post office.
The package contained 1,000 grams of dried leaves and flowers of the hemp plant.
Based on the man's testimony, local police arrested another member of the Canada-Vietnam drug smuggling ring.
