The Malaysia Business Chamber Vietnam (MBC) awarded 30 VND800,000 scholarships to students at Trung Lap Ha Primary School in Ho Chi Minh City's Cu Chi District on Saturday.
All of the recipients were orphans or children from very poor families in the suburban district.
Speaking at the event, Dang Thi Ngoc, standing vice chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Charity Association (HWCA), encouraged the students to try to do well at school to achieve good results and show their gratitude to the MBC.
Ngoc also thanked the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) for introducing disadvantaged students in Cu Chi to MBC who came for a visit and provided the students with the scholarships.
Huynh Chanh Thi, Principal of Trung Lap Ha Primary School, thanked MBC, HUFO and HWCA for their significant gifts.
MBC chairman Theng Bee Han said his agency planned to provide gifts to students in District 11, Binh Tan District and Can Gio District of Ho Chi Minh City in the near future.
