Police in Bangkok City on Sunday arrested three young Vietnamese men for allegedly killing a local man, robbing his valuables at his house two days earlier, local media reported.
Police arrested Le Van Yung, 19, Le Van Dai, 18, and Nguyen Cong Duc, 18, at a dormitory, and seized a diamond ring, a gold necklace, a gold ring, an iPad and a mobile phone, which they said the trio had taken from the house of the victim, Pongsak Samretwanich.
Pongsak, 56, a former district councilor of the Pheu Thai Party, hired the three men to do some work at his house after meeting them at a local restaurant where they were working, the Bangkok Post quoted local police as saying.
The trio allegedly confessed they beat up Pongsak at his house late in Friday and stole his valuables, but said they had no intention to kill him.
They later sold some of the loot to a mobile phone shop in Pran Nok area in Bangkok Noi district.
Pongsak’s housekeeper discover him unconscious in his room the next morning. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Further investigations are ongoing.
