Police in the northern port city of Hai Phong have arrested three young men for reckless driving, not wearing helmets and assaulting a traffic cop who attempted to stop them.
On Friday, a representative from the municipal police announced the arrest of Nguyen Quang Hoang, 19, Pham Trung Hieu, 18, Duong Ngoc Phong, 22.
The young men were taken into custody pending an investigation into charges that they assaulted an officer on duty.
The officer said the three Hai Phong locals were observed zig-zagging their motorbikes down the street on the evening of October 29 without helmets on.
A group of traffic cops attempted to pull them over, which only prompted them to drive more erratically.

Officers Pham Van Tuyen and Le Nhu Thang then gave chase.
When they approached the men, Hoang (a passenger on Hieu's motorbike) swung a brick he was holding into Tuyen's face, sending the officer tumbling into the road.
Tuyen reportedly suffered a broken cheekbone and lost four teeth.
Hieu, Hoang and Phuong were arrested soon afterward.
