Police in the northern province of Bac Giang have fined a teenager after a video emerged online showing him riding a motorbike on a national highway with just his feet.
In the video, Lieu Van Thang lay flat on the seat, raising his head a bit to see the road.
He was driving alongside of cars and buses. There were also many vehicles on the opposite direction.
He did not wear a crash helmet.
A source from the police said they acted soon on tip-offs on the video, which was reportedly filmed in the afternoon of April 4 on National Highway 1A, local media reported.
They found that Thang did not have driving license and that he will only turn 18, Vietnam’s legal driving age, this October.
An officer said the cash fine for this violation is VND13 million ($602) but an underage driver only has to pay half of it.
