Techcombank's manager probed for taking bribes

Police in Hanoi are investigating a Techcombank manager for allegedly accepting VND2.9 billion (US$148,756) in bribes.

 

Tran Kien Quoc was arrested after receiving the funds from a businessman named Tran Tuan Anh, an annonymous source at Techcombank told Thanh Nien without providing further details about the arrest.

 

According to the source, Quoc bribes were paid in an effort to secure a contract to provide the bank with administrative software.

 

In an interview with Thanh Nien, a leader at Techcombank said Quoc was recently transferred to Techcombank from Sacombank Securities Company, and he is currently on two-month probation.

 

Following Quoc's arrest, Techcombank ended its contract with Quoc, according to the leader who asked not to be named.
