A teacher at a junior high school in Thanh Hoa has been suspended for breaking the arm of a student early this week.
Dinh Hoa Junior High School announced Wednesday that Doan Van Hoc will be suspended for an undetermined period of time.
On February 22, Hoc was reportedly upset when an eighth grader, Do Lan Anh, kept talking with a friend during his physics class despite several warnings.
After the class, Hoc asked Anh to go to the principal's room to report the case.
No one was there at the time and the teacher allegedly beat the student with a bamboo stick, after being made fun of by the student.
The principal Le Thanh Xuan confirmed that Hoc attempted to hit the student's buttocks but the student tried to block the stick and had his right arm broken.
The family took the boy to school to report the case and then brought him to hospital after he came home crying in pain.
Education officials in Yen Dinh District said they are considering punitive measures against the teacher.
