A VietJet Air flight pulled a U-turn on a Ho Chi Minh City runway to dismiss a female passenger for cursing out a member of the flight crew, the Southern Airport Authority reported on May 6.
Le Thi Ngoc Quy allegedly let loose a volley of vulgar insults after a steward asked her to stow a piece of luggage she was holding in an overhead container.
The VJ8901 flight captain decided to turn the plane around after taxiing out to the runway, just moments before take-off.
Other passengers agreed with the captain’s decision, a VietJet Air representative said.
The 28 year-old woman had already shouted at an employee working at the airport check-in counter, witnesses said, after the employee informed her that her handbag was heavier than the allowed weight of 7 kilos.
After being taken back to the boarding gate, Quy continued to refuse to cooperate with airport staff.
The incident delayed the flight to Bangkok by an hour.
