Switzerland Embassy in Vietnam has sent a statement asking Hanoi authorities to fix a giant clock that Bern gifted the city during the capital's millennial anniversary last October, VnExpress said Tuesday.

The embassy said the clock worth US$20,000 has not been working for several days and should be fixed, said Ha Van Que, director of Hanoi Department of Foreign Affairs.

Nguyen Thinh Thanh, office head of Hanoi People's Committee, told VnExpress that the city government has asked concerned agencies, including Hanoi Construction Department which is in charge of managing the clock, to fix it.

Representatives of Hanoi's Department of Foreign Affairs and Construction accepted the clock, 13 meters in diameter and 1.8 meters high, last October.

The clock has been placed in the middle of a fake tulip garden near the Sword Lake.
