The Swedish government will provide funds totaling more than US$1.3 million for a project to train the country's reporters through 2013, an official said at a Thursday press conference.

Hoang Huu Luong, head of the Press Authority at the Ministry of Information and Communication, said the money will go towards opening a journalism center with various courses, conferences and more.

The European government had earlier announced it would give US$1.38 million to help train the management at Vietnam's press agencies.
