The police are investigating the origin of a consignment of suspected elephant tusks found in a gift consignment sent to Vietnam from the Czech Republic.
Anti-smuggling police said they found the gift consignment with eight packages “suspicious” and opened to check it. Inside, they found 31 pieces of objects believed to be chopped ivory weighing a total 15 kilograms.
The consignment was sent to a man in Ho Chi Minh City.
The police sealed the consignment in the man’s presence for further investigation.
