Two people were injured when a container truck lost control and crashed into several vehicles waiting at a red light in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday.
Traffic camera footage showed the truck turning left at high speed at a busy intersection in District 7, hitting one car and two motorbikes.
A 52-year-old man and his teenage son on one of the motorbikes were rushed to hospital and their conditions are now stable. The father had broken bones but no surgery was needed, doctors said.
The father recalled that, when the truck was ten meters from him, someone near him screamed “Run!”, but there was simply not enough time for him to act.
The other drivers were not hurt.
Le Van Huynh, the driver of the car, said the truck driver seemed to be on drugs. “He seemed unstable.”
Huynh said he only survived because the truck hit the right side of his car.
“If it had crashed into my car head-on, I would be dead.”
The truck driver, identified later as Pham Van Nhuan, fled the scene after the accident and is now wanted by the police.
Police are investigating the case.
