A man suspected of setting a fire that killed a couple and their 4-year-old daughter at their house in Vietnam's Mekong Delta on Tuesday has been arrested, local police said.
Tran Quoc Gia was being taken away in handcuffs.
Flames tore through the house in Trung Hau village, Vinh Long Province, at around 2 a.m. Killed in the fire were Dang Thi Thuy, 33, and the toddler, Nguyen Ngoc Han. Thuy’s husband Nguyen Duc Thang, 37, managed to escape through a window, but succumbed to severe burns in the evening.
Tran Quoc Gia, 37, admitted that he had set fire to the house, the police said.
Gia said he did so to take revenge on Thang, who did not approve Gia’s affections for his younger sister.
Police investigators said the fire scene reeked of gasoline.
They are still investigating.
