The temperatures in southern Vietnam on Thursday dropped by 2-3 degrees Celsius to reach the lowest level in this dry season, according to the Southern Hydrometeorological Center.
On Thursday morning the temperature in Ho Chi Minh City was 22 degrees Celsius, while in Dong Nai’s Phuoc Long District it dropped to 19.4, and in Tay Ninh Province it was 20.5.
The temperatures in Mekong Delta provinces are measured at 21-23 degrees Celsius.
The Southern Hydrometeorological Center said the weather in the south turned cool under the influence of a strengthened cold spell that hit northern Vietnam on Tuesday.
The cool weather will last in the next two days until it got warmer, the center forecast.
The National Hydrometeorological Forecast Center said the lowest temperatures in Ha Noi are expected to drop to 9 degrees Celsius, with highs of 19C, in the next two days.
Severe cold weather is also predicted to blanket delta provinces, and the temperature is forecast to drop to zero in several mountainous areas with frost likely, Vietnam News Agency reported.
