Environment police in Binh Duong on Tuesday caught a local waste factory illegally burying 22 tons of waste mud.

The police were informed by local residents who saw the sewage treatment factory of Viet Huong 2 Industrial Zone digging a hole and dumping the stinky waste mud right inside the zone on Monday.

A representative at the zone said the mud doesn't contain harmful substances and it was buried to fertilize trees around the zone.

Police in the southern province have taken samples of the mud for testing.
