Over VND1.5 billion (US$71,500) and US$3,600 in cash, and two cars were among things confiscated during the raid.

A report on the An Ninh Thu Do (Capital's security) news website quoted Major General Nguyen Anh Tuan of the taskforce as saying that Hoan led a gang that had been involved in the drug trade for a long time.

The gang also functioned as debt collectors, illegally keeping people in custody to force them to pay their debts, he said.
