Two sisters drowned in central Vietnam Sunday while grazing their buffalo near a stream.

Locals in Quang Nam Province surmise the buffalo herd must have swum across the stream, which is more than three meters deep and 40 meters wide, and the girls could have followed them to try and bring them back.

The bodies of the girls, 17 and 11 years old, were found in the stream later that night.

Their father Ha Van Khoa said the neighbors started to help him look for the girls after he waited until 7 p.m. and the buffalo returned home by themselves.
